The videos available will enhance band directors in their efforts to train students in a distance learning OR “in person” environment, and will be a supplement to help with potential roadblocks and/or setbacks you may encounter.
Woodwind instructional videos will have the capability to be shared through programs such as Zoom, Schoology, Webex, and other platforms by the teacher utilizing the “Screen Share” function….and also having the additional option of recording their lessons and sending them home for both virtual and “in person” learning and/or assignments. All videos will be embedded directly into www.johnbenzer.com and can only be accessed through your personal profile and membership password.
FOR EACH WOODWIND INSTRUMENT
Former University of Houston music education students—now Texas public school band directors—will model various aspects of woodwind instrument pedagogy. There will be individual videos that will demonstrate and go through the steps necessary to teach:
posture, breathing, instrument assembly/disassembly, maintenance, embouchure and sound formation, hand position, flexibility, range extension, articulation, etc.
INSTRUMENT-SPECIFIC EXERCISES
Performers will model specific exercises to help create characteristic, consistent and resonant sounds…….as well as various supplemental exercises that are specific to their instrument.
