WOODWIND VIDEOS

In addition to the 120+ pedagogical instructional teaching videos (covering posture, breathing, instrument assembly/disassembly, maintenance, embouchure and sound formation, hand position, flexibility, range extension, articulation, etc.), performers will also model the following instrument specific exercises in an additional 40+ teaching videos to help create characteristic, consistent and resonant sounds:

FLUTE
– Introductory playing exercises to get fingers moving
– Information regarding long thumb and round thumb
– Flexibility exercises using the uncovered and covered headjoint, as well as the fully-assembled flute
– Flexibility exercises using the Pneumo Pro
– Octave slur exercises and chants
– Playing in the upper register
– Playing in the lower register
– The Three Bb Fingerings
– The uses of long thumb and round thumb, using the G Major scale as an example
 
OBOE
– Introductory playing exercises to get fingers moving
– Double octave key system
– Octave slurs and using the half-hole technique
– Right hand pinky numbering system and identification of notes
– Left hand pinky numbering system and identification of notes
– The 3 F fingerings 
 
BASSOON
– Introductory playing exercises to get fingers moving
– Octave slurs using half and quarter and three-quarter hole techniques
– Low note thumb positions and playing lower register notes
– Playing upper register notes through venting and flicking techniques
– Utilizing flicking and venting techniques in the second (or middle) octave of the C Major Scale

 

CLARINET
– Introductory playing exercises to get fingers moving
– Octave exercises 
– Regular vs. chromatic low B and register key F#/Gb
– Regular (side) vs. chromatic D#/Eb and register key A#/Bb
– Regular vs. chromatic in-the-staff F#/Gb

– Introductory harmonic exercises

– Numbering right and left pinkies, utilizing colored/electrical tape and teaching pinky alternatives
